Abstract

Tibb-e-Nabawi: Analysis and Elucidation by Mohammad Raziul Islam Nadwi, President Idara-e-Tahqeeq-o-Tasneef-e-Islami, Aligarh ,mrnadvi@gmail.com. Mohammadiya Tibbiya College Malegaon organized an international conference on the central theme Tibb-e-Nabawi: Scientific Exploration and Understanding on 11-12 December 2023. This article was presented therein as keynote adress. It dwells upon the various aspects of Tibb-e-Nabawi. The traditions of the Messenger of Allah with regard to diseases, healthcare and medical treatment are called Tibb-e-Nabawi. Tibb (medical practice) was not popular as a profession during the Prophet's period. People used to take diseases as the effects of Jinn, Satans and evil spirits. The Messenger liberated them from superstitions and baseless beliefs. Having fallen sick, he himself used medicines, and when the Companions fell sick, he prescribed medicines and advised them to contact medical practitioners. Ulama have been discussing the Shariah status of Tibb-e-Nabawi. Some Ulama deem it based on Wahi (Divine revelation) while other Ulama call it reflection of the Ara's medical affairs and experiences. The distinction of Tibb-e-Nabawi is that it tells us about the protection of health, lays stress on Taharah, purity and cleanliness, and presents the concepts of infection and quarantine. What is required is that research on Tibb-e-Nabawi should be based on authentic Ahadith and the medicines mentioned therein be researched scientifically. This article delves deep into all these aspects of Tibb-e-Nabawi
