Abstract

Islam is a religion that bounds the state to take rudimentary steps for internal & external defense. This is meant to secure the state and its citizens.  For the attainment of this purpose, Muslims should be armed with latest weapons. That is why Last Prophet of Allah Almighty Hazrat Muhammad ﷺ laid great stress on the availability of present technology for the safety of Islamic state as well as Muslims. Heﷺdevised many plans and techniques to achieve present warfare strategies and weapons. For this mission, Arm making industry was established, necessary weapons were imported and Muslims were also trained properly to combat with the current challenges. Pious Caliphs and successor Muslim rulers also carried on this policy. Resultantly, they subjugated a large part of world till the end of the First Century A.H and maintained ideal management in the conquered territories. Thereupon, Islam became a dominant force in the whole world. After this glorious period, Muslims became stagnant and neglected utilization of latest defense technology. Consequently, Western nations got upper hand with their modern technology and exploited resources of Muslim Umma. This tragic situation is continued up to till. The study is fundamentally designed to express the needs and requirements of modern defense industry for the Islamic World. This is qualitative research in which data is gathered from secondary sources, books, articles and online sources. The study suggests guidelines for contemporary Islamic World through the Exemplary role of Muslims in the early Islam.

Discussion

The paper argues that Islam mandates states to prioritize defense and equip their citizens with modern weaponry, drawing parallels to the practices of the Prophet Muhammad and early Caliphs. It highlights the decline in defense technology adoption by Muslims after their initial golden age, which resulted in subjugation by Western powers. The study advocates for a return to the principles of self-reliance in defense technology, inspired by early Islamic history.

Key Findings

Islam historically emphasized defense and the acquisition of the latest weaponry. Early Muslims were proficient in warfare strategies and technology, leading to significant expansion and stable governance. Neglect of defense technology by later Muslim rulers led to Western dominance and exploitation.

Conclusion

The Islamic world needs to re-evaluate and invest in its defense industry to regain strength and autonomy, learning from its historical successes in military technology and strategy.
