Fisher and Bickerstaff, in the 1950s, reported some cases with distinctive features of ophthalmoplegia and ataxia. Bickerstaff’sBrainstem Encephalitis (BBE) is an uncommon nervous system disorder characterized by clinical signs and symptoms including acuteophthalmoplegia, ataxia, and impaired consciousness.
