Abstract

Muslim families are facing several challenges in contemporary world despite of scientific and technological development. Honour, dignity and security of the families are at stake due to the said reasons. This research paper presents an overview of problems being faced by Muslim families due to rigid customs and conventions. Muslim women have been deprived of fundamental rights including freedom of expression and association on pretext of closed, traditional and rigid environment. They are not allowed to contribute a leading role in various sphere of life namely inheritance affairs, performing art and sports activities. A majority of cases are being filed in civil courts on account of sense of insecurity and deprivation from their due share in inheritance. This is need of hour to revisit so called rigid version regarding women rights in light of western approaches and true teachings of Islam.
