Abstract

 The two sources of Islamic law are the Quran and the Sunnah (the sayings and actions of the Prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him). Just as understanding the context and reasons behind the revelation of Quranic verses (Asbab al-Nuzul) is essential for grasping their meaning and wisdom, similarly, understanding the circumstances surroundingthe revelation of Hadiths (Asbab al-Hadith) is crucial for accurately interpreting their significance and implications.This knowledge, i.e., the science of Asbab al-Hadith, holds a high rank among all sciences. To comprehend the true meaning and implications of Hadiths, it is necessary to know this science. This article highlights the importance of Asbab al-Hadith and emphasizes that there is a dire need for work to be done in this field in the Urdu language. Without this knowledge, it is impossible to extract and derive rulings and guidance from Hadiths.
