Abstract

Praise be to Allah – Glorified and Exalted is He – who granted me the success to complete this research and facilitated the writing and compilation of its contents. I hope it fulfills its intended purpose and brings widespread benefit.
This study presents a rhetorical and analytical examination of analogical imagery in the poetry of Ibrahim Al-Kufahi, a distinguished literary figure among contemporary Islamic Jordanian poets. Beginning his poetic journey at an early age, Al-Kufahi skillfully addressed various social issues through his verses. He is recognized for his prominent literary stature, respected status, and honorable political stances. His poetry reflects profound humanistic values, evoking deep emotion and sincere faith rooted in his heart. Through an in-depth reading of his works, I observed that his poetry addresses a diverse range of social, educational, and political themes, along with his deep appreciation for the captivating rural landscape. Traditional poetic themes such as praise, love, elegy, and description are also vividly present in his work. His poetry serves as a canvas where he paints his life experiences and the events he witnessed. The research comprises three main sections, preceded by an introduction. The introduction provides a concise biography of Ibrahim Al-Kufahi and examines the concept of analogical imagery through the lenses of linguists, rhetoricians, and philosophers. In the second and third chapters, I analyzed the analogical imagery in Al-Kufahi's poetry across two subcategories: simple (single-word) analogies and compound analogies. Furthermore, I explored the emotions conveyed by these analogies, offering rhetorical analyses of the verses and metrical scansion of the cited lines.
