Abstract

The future of the Internet is the Internet-of-Things (IoT), one of the most important contemporary technologies employed in all areas where everything will be linked to the Internet. One of these is the use of IoT in the healthcare industry, which includes mobile health and remote patient monitoring for ailments like high blood pressure, diabetes, and other chronic diseases. Applications for remote health monitoring must operate in real time, and any lag brought on by data transfers to the cloud and back is undesirable. Fog computing, therefore, minimizes the quantity of data that must be sent between the cloud and the sensors, improves the efficiency of the entire system, and enables efficient data collection and processing. Recent years have seen the rise of fog computing as a promising technology that allows for real-time data processing, analysis, and decision-making at the edge of the network, potentially improving healthcare results. This article aims to provide a comprehensive review of the benefits, challenges, and current and future applications of fog computing in healthcare
