Abstract

To know the frequency of miliary tuberculosis in adults, a retrospective study was carried out at Ojha Institute of Chest Diseases, Karachi Pakistan. In the year 1994, 80% admissions were due to tuberculosis. Among them 1% had miliary tuberculosis. They were between 15-60 years age. Fourteen percent showed choroid tubercles. None had palpable spleen. Thirty Six percent had meningitis. Thirty six percent were sputum positive for AFB. Fifty percent received steroids. Two thirds cured. Only effective T.B. Control Programme can reduce the incidence of this extensive form of disease.
