Abstract

Dementia poses significant safety and caregiving challenges in nursing homes, particularly with risks such as wandering, falls, and elopement. This study explores designing wearable technology tailored to dementia patients, addressing their unique physical and cognitive needs while balancing safety with dignity. By incorporating insights from caregivers and dementia patients, the study proposes a patient-centered design approach for wearable devices. Case studies highlight the practical application and benefits of such technologies. The findings contribute to advancing safety solutions in dementia care and bridge the gap between technological innovation and user acceptance.
