Abstract

ZnS nanocrystals were synthesized at 80, 90, 100, 110 and 120℃. The synthesized material was investigated by UV-Visible, XRD, SEM and EDAX. FTIR technique was used to determine functional group and purity of the synthesized sample. UV- visible results showed blue shift with increases in reaction temperature. The XRD results confirmed the cubic phase of nanocrystals. The photocatalytic degradation ability of fabricated nanoparticles was determined by using them as photocatalyst in the degradation of methylene blue. The maximum degradation was observed when ZnS nanoparticles prepared at 80℃ were used as photocatalyst.
