A study was carried out at Citrus Research Station, Sargodha, during 2002-2004 on the planting density of grape fruit, (Shamber). Three planting densities of grapefruit (7Cx70 ,70x35and 35 x 35 m) were studied. It revealed that plant height was positively correlated with planting distance, whereas plant spread did not respond at all. Maximum yield per tree, fruit weight and juice percentage were recorded in case of planting density of 7.0x7.0 meter, followed by 7.0x3.5 meter. However, there was no effect on fruit size in any case. Maximum TSS (8.0%) were observed in fruits harvested from 7.0x7.0-meter planting density followed by 7.0x3.5 meter (7.20%) during the year 2002. Almost similar trend was recorded during the year 2003 and 2004. Acidity was negatively correlated with various planting distances. Conclusively, planting density of 7.0x7.0 meter performed better both for quality and quantity. The planting distance of 3.5x3.5 meter ranked last.
