Abstract

The study was conducted in the Department of Fiber Technology. University of Agriculture, Faisalabad during the year 1998-99. In the experiment, the knitted fabrics of different polyestericotion blends (i.e. 50:50, 65/33 and 70:30) were first thoroughly scoured and then treated with different recipes of various bleaching agents under controlled conditions of pH, temperature and time. The bleaching agents (H;Os. NaClO, Na(OCl)2,, NaBO, and Ca(Ocl), were used before dying. The fastness properties 1.e. rubbing, hot pressing and light fastness of the fabrics were improved more when treated with H2O2 bleaching agent. The other bleaching agents were ranked as NaClO,. Na(OCl), and NaBO; whereas calcium hyp0chlorite Ca(OCl); was found interior to all other bleaching agents.
