Abstract

These studies were conducted at Nuclear Institute for Agriculture and Biology (NIAB). Faisalabad during summer 2003. In these studies genotypic/phenotypic variance and co-efficient of variability, heritability, genetic advance, correlation co-efficient and path analysis for various morphological and economic traits were determined. High genetic advance combined with high heritability values were observed for plant height, clusters per plant, pods per plant and seed yield, indicating that these attributes are controlled mainly by additive genes. Plant height. clusters per plant, pods per plant and pod length were positively correlated with seed yield both at the phenotypic and genotypic levels. Plant height, primary branches per plant, pods per plant, pod length and 100-sced weight had positive direct effect on seed yield.
