Seventeen varieties of oats including a check were evaluated at Fodder Research Sub- Station, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad during rabi seasons of 2000- 2001 and 2001-2002. Significant differences were found among the varieties for number of tillers per meter row, number of leaves per tiller, leaf area and green fodder yield while differences tor plant height were non-significant. Variety Jasper produced higher green fodder yield (71.91 t/ha) while Murray produced the lowest (31.33 t/ha) Plant height ranged from 112.61 (Murray) to 123 cm (No. 649). Number of tillers per meter row vaned from 94.11 (Murray) to 112.06 (Jasper). Number of leaves per tiller ranged from 7.17 (Murray) to 7.95 (Jasper).
