A study was conducted at Agronomic Research Station, Bahawalpur during 1999 and 2000 1o see the effect of plant population on yield potential of different cotton varieties Four long statured varieties viz. FH-634, FVH-53, FH-682 and BH-36 were plant at three plant spacings 22.5, 30.0 and 37.5 cm with row spacing of 75 cm. On an average maximum seed cotton yield (2510 kg/ha) was recorded when plants were spaced at 30 cm followed by plant spacing of 37.5 ¢m (2499 kg) but these were statistically non-significant. Cotton varieties viz. FH-634, FVH-53 and FH-682 produced maximum seed cotton yield at plant spacing of 30 and 37.5 ¢m but these were also statistically at par with one another. Minimum yield response was noted at plant spacing of 22.5 cm. Bolls per plant and 100-boll weight responded accordingly as well
