Five advanced lines of sorghum and a check were evaluated during kharif, 2000 under irrigated conditions at Fodder Research Sub-Stations, Ayub Agricultural Research Institute, Faisalabad. Significant differences were observed for various fodder yield components such as plant height. number of plants per meter row, leaf area and green fodder yield. However, differences for number of leaves per plant and stem thickness were non-significant. Plant height ranged from 200 cm (F-9806) to 240 cm {(F-9809) while number of plants per meter row varied from 21 (F-9806) to 28 (F-9809). Maximum number of leaves 13 cm {14.11) were produced by JS-263 (check) followed by F-9806 (13.67) while F-9921 produced the lowest {12.22). Stem thickness ranged from 1.17 ¢cm (F-9806) 10 1.28 (F-9812) and leaf area varied from 279.67 (F-9809) to 355 cm® (F-0812). Line F-9800 (66.11 t/ha) ranked top in green fodder yield (66.11 t/ha) followed by F-9812 (63.89 t) F-9803 (63.70 1) and F-9921 (63.521). Check variety J5-263 was 210 cm tall, produced 22 plants per meter row, had 14.11 leaves per plant, was 1.24 cm thick, had a leaf area of 292 cm™ and produced green fodder yield of 58.70 tons per hectare.
