Six resistant (class 0) parents viz. AC-58, No.411, No.2127, MSP, S.A.D and White Star were crossed with a disease susceptible parent, AC-62 (class 2) at University of Agriculture, Faisalabad during 1999-2001. The subject was to study the inheritance of resistance to cowpea yellow mosaic virus The results showed that F| populations were resistant against the disease. However, F; populations segregated into resistant (class 0), tolerant (class 1} and susceptible {class 2) phenotype as 1:2:1, respectively. The plant of reaction class 1 (tolerant) segregated as 1:2:1 in F; generation and advocated a close actual fit to the expected distribution. For ratio’s involving only two differential types, Fy-generations segregated into three resistant and one susceptible phenotypes which proved to be good fit to 3:1 ratio. It advocated that resistance was controlled by a single gene pair in the crosses studied.
