Abstract

After major energy crises and global warming issues, the harvesting of alternative sources of energy at mega and nano scale, is gaining much interest. Random mechanical energy present in the environment is one of the most abundantly available form of energy. Piezoelectric nanogenerator (PENG) and triboelectric nanogenerators (TENG) are the emerging techniques to harvest such random mechanical energy. In this research work, we design a novel structured triboelectric layer i.e. PDMS layer as negative layer in TENG fabrication. Firstly, the PDMS layer is modified by using template assisted technique to obtain a combination of micro and nano structure. The template chosen to make pattern on PDMS surface is Aluminum (Al). The surface of Al is patterned by a chemical etcher. Then the designed pattern of AL mold is replicated on PDMS sheet. Later on, using this layer, we designed a free standing dielectric to dielectric triboelectric nanogenerator (FD-TENG). The fabricated device produced an output peak power of 11µW/cm2 at resistance of 100 MΩ.
