Abstract

Stammering can be managed or eliminated with the use of Hypnosis. Researchers have discovered that Hypnosis can be used to lessen the severity of stammering. Sadly, not enough research has been done on the effectiveness of Hypnosis as a stuttering treatment, but it has been proven that Hypnosis has a significant effect on stammering severity. This single-case study examines the method of Hypnosis along with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for stuttering treatment. The case is about a 17-year-old boy with a stuttering problem (along with secondary issues), which began at the age of 12- he was bullied at school. After that, stammering persisted for an ensuing 5-year period. This paper illustrates how Hypnotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy can be used to treat stammering. The client was treated with a holistic approach by utilizing Hypnotherapy comprised of Self-hypnosis, Circle of Excellence, trance induction (safe place), NLP techniques of Anchoring, EFT, NER, and timeline therapy together with ABC model of cognitive behavioral therapy including psycho-education, relaxation, and problem-solving strategies. After implementing Hypnosis, visible change was noted in his symptomologies, i.e., his physical, behavioral, and emotional well-being.
