Abstract

The study's purpose is to assess the degree of motivating persistence and establish a guidance program in studying weights among Kut University College students for the academic year (2023-2022). Moreover, to determine the influence of the guidance program on motivational persistence and snatch lift performance among Al-Kut College, Al-Ahliyya University - Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences students for the academic year (2023-2022). The researchers expected that the counselling program would have an impact on the student's motivation, perseverance, and snatch performance at the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Kut University College. The researchers defined their research population as (45) first-year students in the Department of Physical Education and Sports Sciences at Kut College, a Private University, for the academic year 2022-2023. The research sample consisted of (15) students for the main sample and (10) students for the exploratory experiment, with a percentage of the sample coming from the community at 34%, indicating that the sample accurately reflected the population. The researchers determined that the researcher's motivational persistence measure, which was established on scientific grounds, is valid for use with the research sample of first-year students in the weights class.   It was also found that a percentage (54%) of students had a lower level of motivational perseverance than those who obtained grades below the limits of the hypothetical mean score for the scale. 46% of students enjoy motivational perseverance and obtain grades within the limits of the hypothetical mean grade of the scale or higher. The guidance program improves students' motivation, perseverance, and snatch lift performance. Because of the modification it caused to the student’s knowledge about the weightlifting lesson environment and modifying their behaviour towards the lesson and learning to perform the snatch.
