Hematopoietic stem-cell transplantation involves transplanting multipotent hematopoietic stem cells, typically sourced from bone marrow, peripheral blood, or umbilical cord blood inorder to treat variety of medical conditions. Here, we report a case of a four-year-old boy diagnosed with Beta Thalassemia Major, who received successful allogeneic HSCT from a fully HLA-matched sibling aged two. The donor in this case tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 through PCR of a nasopharyngeal swab. Our objective is to contribute our firsthand experience to the scarce literature on HSCT from donors who have tested positive for COVID-19.
