Abstract

The current study intended to investigate the impacts of parental involvement on children’s motivation in secondary education in district Swat, Pakistan. The objectives of the current study were to determine the parent's role in their children's motivation in secondary education, to explore the barriers to parental involvement in children’s education, and to find out the potential impacts of parents' involvement in children’s secondary education in District Swat, Pakistan. The study was quantitative, and a survey was exercised to examine the research problem. In this research, the ninth and tenth class learners and secondary school teachers (SSTs) from boy’s secondary schools in District Swat were grabbed as the population. Based on Yamane Formula, a sample size of 90 SSTs, 100 parents, and 100 students of ninth and tenth classes were selected from the population of the study through a convenient sampling strategy. A set of questionnaires was constructed based on the previous literature. The data were analyzed using Mean, Standard Deviation, and Percentile.It was found that parents can play a vital role in character-building of the students. In contrast, according to the student’s opinions, teachers play a vital role in character-building of learners. In addition, the current research findings show that parents, students, and teacher’s involvement in children's motivation in secondary education plays an important role. The study recommended that parents need to get more involved in parent-teacher meetings and must have regular contact with their children's schools.
