Abstract

This study presents a comparative analysis of Nabī-e-Raḥmat ﷺ by Abul Ḥassan ʻAlī Nadwī and Aṣaḥ al-Siyar by Ḥakīm Abū al-Barakāt ʻAbdul Raūf Danapūrī, two significant works on the Sīrah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ. Both scholars have contributed immensely to Islamic scholarship, yet their methodologies, perspectives, and thematic focuses differ significantly. Maulānā Nadwī’s Nabī-e-Raḥmat ﷺ offers a spiritually enriching and literary portrayal of the Prophet’s ﷺ life, emphasizing his universal message of mercy. In contrast, Maulānā Danapūrī’s Aṣaḥ al-Siyar follows a rigorous, analytical, and Ḥadīth-based approach, ensuring historical accuracy in documenting the Sīrah. This comparative study examines their approaches to historical narration, use of primary sources, thematic focus, and literary style. The research highlights how each author presents the Prophet’s ﷺ life in a unique manner, catering to different audiences and scholarly needs. The findings contribute to the broader discourse on Sīrah literature, demonstrating the diversity of scholarly engagement with the life of the Prophet ﷺ.
