Abstract

This research article examines the multifaceted challenges faced by divorced women in Pakistan, analyzing their psychological, economic, and social struggles within the framework of Islamic values. Despite Islam's emphasis on dignity, justice, and compassion for divorced women, societal stigma, financial instability, and emotional distress plague their lives. The study highlights real-life testimonies, such as cases of character assassination, barriers to remarriage, and systemic neglect, while contrasting these issues with Quranic injunctions and Prophetic traditions that advocate for their rights and respectful treatment. The article underscores the dissonance between Islamic teachings, which protect divorced women's rights to maintenance, remarriage, and dignified treatment, and the patriarchal interpretations prevalent in Pakistani society. It calls for societal reform, policy interventions, and awareness campaigns to align cultural practices with Islamic principles, ensuring divorced women can lead empowered, dignified lives. By integrating religious directives with practical solutions—such as counseling centers, legal safeguards, and economic support—the study aims to bridge this gap and foster a more inclusive and just society.
