Abstract

The Holy Quran is such a great blessing from Allah Almighty for all of humanity that no wealth in the world, no matter how vast, can equal it. It is a remedy for all ailments, and reciting it, listening to it, looking at it, acting upon it, or serving in any way to spread its message is a tremendous honor and success in both this world and the hereafter. What are the etiquettes for listening to the Holy Quran? The Quran itself has explained that when the Quran is recited, listen attentively and remain silent. If the Holy Quran is listened with proper manners, it is both worship and Sunnah, and is equal in reward to reciting it. The article under consideration explain an important issue regarding the Holy Quran. In the past years, the trend of reading and listening to the Holy Quran while looking at it during Tarawih prayer was very low, but now it has been observed that this trend is increasing significantly. The imam masjid is reciting the Holy Quran by looking at it and the listeners are also listening by looking at it. However, an important means of preserving the Quran through oral memorization. Allah Almighty has arranged for the preservation of the Quran from the hearts of the memorizers. If we limit ourselves to reading the Quran while looking at it, it will cause a lot of harm. There is no example of reading the Quran while looking at it in the prayer, there is no evidence in the Quran and Sunnah, so we should recite as much as we can remember orally. Reading the Quran in the prayer by looking at it can lead to a lack of attention to memorizing the Quran, the trend that has emerged among the Ummah towards memorizing the Quran can decrease, negligence and carelessness can arise in memorizing it.
