This study looks in to the role of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in promoting democratization in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) during its first government from 2013 to 2018. After gaining a majority in the 2013 general elections, PTI formed a provincial coliation government in KP. The study is qualitative in nature and enforced a number of initiatives to enhancing transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in politics. The study also explores PTI’s governance strategies, to strengthen democratic institutions and practices including the implementation of the Right to Information Act, merit based recruitment, police reforms, local government empowerment. To foster political awareness and inclusivity the PTI’s government engagement with civil society, youth mobilization, and use of digital platforms to foster political democratization process. Also to evaluate the policy documents, media coverage, and public discourse, to assesses the extent to which PTI’s initiatives contributed to democratization in KP. While the findings highlight the reveal challenges such as political polarization and limitations in policy execution and the significant progress in institutional development and civic engagement. This research delves to the broader understanding of democratization in Pakistan’s provincial context and offers insights into the evolving nature of democratic governance in transition.
