Abstract

Among classical Pashto poets, Abdul Hameed Momand stands out for his unique style and depth of thought. His poetry reflects a variety of themes and artistic dimensions. From an aesthetic point of view, his work exhibits diverse poetic expressions. Notably, the use of allusion is a prominent feature of Hameed Baba’s poetry. His verses contain various types of allusions, among which religious allusions hold a significant place. He references numerous religious events in different contexts, effectively using them as poetic devices. These allusions not only enrich the literary value of his poetry but also highlight his deep understanding of religion and religious history. Owing to these qualities, Hameed Baba’s poetry holds a distinctive place among classical Pashto literature. This article aims to critically analyze the use and significance of religious allusions in the poetry of Hameed Baba.
