Financial potential, market growth, and strategic significance of green bonds under well-defined sustainable investment frameworks is the focus of this research. By analyzing a bond dataset from 2018 to 2023, the study investigates risk-return characteristics, difference in green bond premium (greenium) and third party certifications on pricing and investor trust. The data indicate how green bonds provide moderately lower yields and slightly higher risk-adjusted returns than traditional bonds with a lower volatility, which makes green bonds more appropriate for ESG portfolios. The global Green Bond market has witnessed massive expansion, particularly in the European and Asia Pacific (APAC) regions, due to increased regulatory regimes and the active nature of institutional interests. The distribution of green bonds demonstrates significant focus on energy and transportation sectors with the notable gaps for specific regions and financing of adaptation measures. Statistical regression analysis bolsters the greenium’s existence, a measurable greenium whereby investors are consistently valuing environmental impact and transparency of investments. Additionally, the study emphasizes the need for standardized impact reporting frameworks to maintain market integrity and reduce the opportunity for greenwashing. These results suggest that green bonds are not only financially viable but also vital for directing capital toward climate-related goals as long as there is continuing regulatory support and institutional progress
