Obesity is been acknowledged to be a major risk factor forchronic kidney disease (CKD), contributing to both its onsetand progression. Over past few decades, the obesityepidemic has lead to an increased incidence of obesityrelatednephropathy, characterised by glomerularhyperfiltration, hypertrophy, and progressiveglomerulosclerosis. This review highlights the need formultidisciplinary action to prevent and manage obesityrelatednephropathy. We reiterate the current necessity ofroutine kidney function screening in people with obesity. We also propose an integrated concept of RenalBarocrinology. This will focus on early screening andpreventive strategies, mitigating long-term burden of CKDand its complications, and improving patient outcomesthrough a collaborative approach.
