Abstract

It gives me great pleasure to write this inaugural issue message to you as the Editor in Chief of the Pakistan Journal of Radiology.Medical journals play a vital role in the practice of medicine today. They provide a forum for the presentation and dissemination of medical knowledge which may impact patient care. The volume and scope of medical literature in the West is overwhelming. However, much of this data is not relevant to the practice of medicine in Pakistan. The publication of local data is crucial to publicize locally relevant information that would guide the diagnosis and treatment of patients in Pakistan. Such a journal also provides an opportunity for Radiologists and particularly Radiology trainees in Pakistan to develop skills of critical thinking, literature review, and medical writing which are essential for a career in academia.
