Abstract

This research paper critically examines the intellectual and aesthetic position of Friedrich Schiller within the context of German classical literature. Schiller emerges not merely as a poet or playwright, but as a profound thinker whose work intertwines artistic beauty with philosophical depth. Drawing upon Enlightenment ideals and Kantian ethics, Schiller’s writings advocate for human freedom, moral autonomy, and resistance against oppression. His association with Goethe in the Weimar Classicism period added further depth and harmony to his thought. Through an in-depth analysis of his major works—Wallenstein, Maria Stuart, and William Tell—this paper explores how Schiller's concepts of justice, dignity, and universal harmony transcend time and remain relevant to today’s global social and political challenges. Ultimately, this study argues that Schiller's fusion of aesthetics and ethics creates a literary model that speaks to both the emotional and rational dimensions of human existence.
