This study explores the relationship between TikTok usage and loneliness among Generation Z users, focusing on usage frequency, motivations, and social comparison behaviours. Data were collected from 112 participants aged 18–24 through an online structured questionnaire. Findings reveal that 40.2% of users access TikTok daily, with an average usage of 92.4 minutes per day. A moderate positive correlation was found between TikTok usage and loneliness (r = .37, p = .002). Among various motivations, escapism significantly predicted loneliness (β = .29, p = .001), while entertainment, creativity, and social interaction were not significant predictors. Social comparison was also significantly associated with increased loneliness (r = .42, p = .001). These results suggest that although TikTok provides engagement and entertainment, it may also intensify feelings of emotional isolation among young users.
