This qualitative research investigates how employees interact with diversity and inclusion initiatives in different sectors. It analyzes perceptions and experiences concerning D&I programs using semi-structured interviews and focus groups with people from various demographic and socio-economic backgrounds. The results highlight that although most employees appreciate the efforts made, their appreciation is contingent on leadership commitment, authenticity, accessibility, integration into culture, and whether or not these efforts are woven into the fabric of the organization. Major obstacles to progress include tokenism, insufficient diverse representation among leaders, and enduring micro-aggressions. The study advocates that to create truly inclusive frameworks within workplaces, comprehensive systemic strategies that leverage authentic organizational commitment must be adopted. There are also conclusions made regarding D&I strategy enhancements alongside areas for future exploration.
