From Free Trade to Strategic Trade: Lessons for Pakistan in a Changing Global Economy

We have gathered here to hear Dr Aqdas Afzal, the speaker for today. It is my pleasure to introduce him, as he is a life member of our Institute, and we greatly depend on his support and contribution to our work. Currently, he is affiliated with the Ministry of Finance, Macro-Fiscal Policies Unit in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he serves as an economic adviser. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation, and he chairs the Board of Directors Committee on Human Resources and Nomination. Dr Aqdas holds a PhD from the University of Missouri in the United States. He has diverse teaching experience, having taught at various universities in Pakistan, including Habib University in Karachi, the International University of Science and Technology (NUST) in Islamabad, Rockhurst University in Kansas City, Missouri, Government College University in Lahore, and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). He has also been affiliated with the Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund and the Asian Development Bank in Islamabad. Dr Aqdas has received numerous honours and awards. He also has an extensive list of publications to his credit, which have appeared in scholarly journals across the globe.
