Abstract

Abstract
Global warming due to the emission of greenhouse gases (GHG) is wreaking havoc in the form of climate change; the effects are worse for nations that barely produce any emissions at all. Pakistan, for instance, produces only a fraction of GHG emissions but has been always in the top 10 countries severely impacted by climate change. The issue of internally displaced persons due to climate change impacts Pakistan as environmental disasters are more frequent here, affecting a large part of the population. The principles of environmental justice, if correctly understood, can be implemented for the better protection of the vulnerable population. The present research investigates the relationship between the issues of climate justice and the rights of internally displaced people (IDPs) in Pakistan, a country dealing with significant climate-related vulnerabilities. It investigates how environmental catastrophes create displacement, which threatens core human rights such as the right to life, health, education, and shelter. The study stresses Pakistan's failure to adopt a rights-based approach in its policies, as well as the limited incorporation of climate justice principles in national law. It emphasizes the pressing demand for international collaboration and domestic policy consistency to protect the basic rights of IDPs while building resilience and long-term recovery in the face of climate challenges.
