Balochistan's extensive coastline along the Arabian Sea presents significant potential for shrimp farming due to its favorable environmental conditions, estuarine systems, and existing mangrove habitats. Key locations such as Jiwani, Gwadar, Pasni, Kalmat Khor, Miani Hor and Sonmiani Bay exhibit optimal ecological and infrastructural characteristics for aquaculture development. The presence of mangrove ecosystems in these areas further enhances their suitability by providing natural nurseries for shrimp larvae and stabilizing coastal environments. However, challenges such as limited infrastructure, environmental concerns, and the need for sustainable management must be addressed through strategic government policies and investment. This study assesses the feasibility of shrimp farming in Balochistan by evaluating site suitability, ecological parameters, and socio-economic factors. With proper planning and sustainable practices, shrimp aquaculture in Balochistan has the potential to contribute significantly to food security, employment generation, and economic growth in the region.
