Abstract

Ornamental pepper is one of the important heat and drought tolerant plant. It is popular due to diversity in fruit shape. In the current study five Paclobutrazol concentrations (1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 ppm) along with control and two ornamental pepper cultivars (Medusa and Treasure Red) were investigated. Research was determined by using 2-factorial randomized completed block design (RCBD) with three times replication. Paclobutrazol concentrations had significant effect for all the studied parameters. Supreme number of branches (8.71), chlorophyll content (65.62 SPAD), number of flowers (39.50), fruits number (26.52), fruit weight plant-1 (125.97), and number of seeds fruit-1 (61.52) were observed at 4000 ppm of Paclobutrazol, while it took minimum plant height (12.31 cm), leaves of number (71.63), area for leaf (2.78 cm2), stem diameter (5.49 mm) and days to fruiting (62.50). In case of ornamental pepper cultivars, maximum height of plant (13.62 cm), leaf’s number (88.88), branches integral (7.56), leaf area (3.64 cm2), stem diameter (6.82 mm), integer of flowers (41.78), number of fruits (23.58), fruit weight plant-1 (55.68),  days to fruiting (76.46) and number of seeds plant-1 (63.26), were perceived in cultivars Treasure Red while it took maximum leaf chlorophyll content (53.79) in Medusa cultivars. It was concluded from the experiment that the application of Paclobutrazol at a concentration of 4000 ppm presented the good results and cultivars Treasure Red performed well at studied area.
