Abstract

Imam Abu Hayyan Al-Andlusi in his world famous tafseer "Al-Bahr-ul-Muheet" has discussed many linguistic discussions. These are the most important discussions: Al-Ishtiraq /Al-Mushtaric-ul-Lafzi, Al-Tazad, Al-Taraduf and Al-Ishtiraq. Ishtiraq is one of the essential discussion among the basic linguistic discussions. It is as to derive one meaningful words produce harmony in their meanings and words may be changed. After the deep study of tafseer Al-Bahr-ul-Muheet, it is evident that Imam's opinion about Ishtiraq is not just an opinion of an imitator, yet his point of view can be considered as the opinion of a wise critic. In his tafseer, we also note that after presenting the opinions of linguists about Ishtiraq, he also discusses weak opinions, rare opinions and wrong opinions as well. Imam's real purpose to describe these different opinions is to real meaning of Ishtiraq of the word. His tafseer is packed with all the types of this linguistic discussion
