Abstract

The pigeon sector in Bangladesh is flourishing rapidly, creating a growing demand for efficient and safe transportation of pigeons both domestically and internationally. For winter transport, moderately spaced, thick paper-based cartons are ideal due to their insulation properties. In contrast, during hotter months, wooden or plastic boxes are preferred as they offer better ventilation. Domestically, train journeys are considered the most comfortable mode of transport for pigeons, while air cargo is the preferred option for international imports. For short-distance travel, bamboo baskets or iron-rod cages are commonly used. Large-tailed and tall pigeon breeds require spacious and taller boxes to ensure their comfort and safety during transit. To avoid mix-ups, pigeons are paired based on identical leg ring numbers or matching leg color markings.
