Abstract

This study investigates the practical application of blockchain technology within Pakistan’s supply chain systems, focusing on how it addresses challenges related to transparency, counterfeit goods, and operational inefficiencies. Employing a qualitative research methodology, data was gathered through interviews with key stakeholders across sectors such as agriculture, pharmaceuticals, textiles, and logistics. Thematic analysis identified both the tangible benefits and significant barriers to blockchain adoption. Findings indicate that while blockchain offers promising solutions for enhancing traceability, reducing fraud, and improving stakeholder coordination, its implementation is hindered by limited technical capacity, infrastructural gaps, regulatory uncertainty, and cultural resistance. The study highlights the necessity of targeted capacity building, infrastructure development, and supportive regulatory frameworks to enable wider blockchain integration. Ultimately, this research emphasizes that blockchain’s transformative potential in Pakistan’s supply chains depends on coordinated efforts that move beyond hype towards practical, scalable solutions.
