The Kashmir conflict remains a central issue in the strained relations between Pakistan and India, with deep historical roots and significant geopolitical implications. This research article examines the origins, evolution, and key drivers of the Kashmir dispute, assessing its impact on bilateral relations and regional stability. The study adopts a qualitative research design, utilising documentary analysis of historical records, official statements, treaties, and policy documents. Additionally, secondary data from scholarly articles, reports from international organisations, and media sources are analysed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the conflict. The research also explores prospects for resolution, evaluating past peace initiatives, confidence-building measures, and the role of global actors in mediation. The findings suggest that while the Kashmir issue remains a significant obstacle, sustained dialogue, Track-II diplomacy, and regional cooperation could pave the way for conflict resolution and improved Pakistan-India relations.
