Abstract

                A very important and reliable book on the science of recitation is “Al-Taysiir fi al-Qira’at al-Saba’”, which was compiled by Imam Abu Amr Uthman ibn Saeed al-Dani (may Allah have mercy on him) (444 AH), and it has a prominent position among the books on the science of recitation. His book “Al-Taysiir” is a short but comprehensive book in which he has compiled the authentic recitations of the Quran. In this book, he has narrated the schools of recitation of these (the seven reciters) with their authentic chain of transmission. And he has chosen two narrators (students) for each reciter, and for each narrator he has narrated a series of tariq (students of students). Therefore, it is a reliable book among the scholars of recitation due to its brevity and distinction. Rather, it is considered one of its important fundamental principles that cannot be dispensed with, and which is seen as superior to the rest of the books on recitation. The author has named this book as Al-Taysiir, meaning “ease”, because the author, may God have mercy on him, has presented the schools of thought on the seven recitations in a very simple manner in this book. In this article, the scientific, temporal and spatial importance of this book, as well as its methodology and style, have been clarified, in which the reason for the compilation of the book, the purpose of its compilation, and the sources of the book have been discussed. Then, the definition of the Imams of Qira’at, their order and their chain of transmission to the Holy Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), and then the chain of transmission from the author to these Imams has been mentioned in detail. The book has been divided into two parts: Usul and Furus. In order to mention the Quranic recitations, the author first mentions the names of the Imams of the Quranic recitations, which are few, before the Quranic words. Then, after mentioning the controversial word, he explains how it is performed in their recitation. Then, with the word al-Baqun, he points to the remaining Imams of the Quranic recitations, how they have recited it. Among its beneficial effects is that everyone who comes after them has benefited from it.
