Abstract

            The Urdu curriculum serves as an important component of the education system, which aims to develop students’ language skills in a systematic and progressive manner. However, the effectiveness of this curriculum largely depends on the textbooks that are used to deliver its content. Therefore, this article critically analyzes the extent to which Urdu textbooks are aligned with the goals, principles, and pedagogical approaches.The aim is to improve the alignment between the curriculum and textbooks, with recommendations for textbook writers, and educationists, to ensure a more effective and meaningful learning experience for students.This article contributes to the ongoing debate on curriculum development and textbook evaluation in Pakistan that offers such insights and can inform future revisions of Urdu textbooks used in education.
