Abstract

   Allama Nabhani (1848-1932), a renowned Islamic scholar and a great biographer of the Prophet (PBUH), adopts a distinctive approach in the compilation of his book on seerah entitled “Jawahir-ul-Bihar”. This book has got a significant place in seerah literature. In this book Allama Nabhani discusses almost all the aspects of the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), like his attributes, miracles, incidents, battles etc. One of Allama Nabhani’s modes of seerah writing is that he, prominently, drives and highlights the Prophet’s (PBUH) qualities and characteristics from the events of seerah. His work shows that he is among them those whose piety, devotion to and love for the Prophet (PBUH) impel them to the role of uncritical recorders of all reports, handed down to us by early chroniclers.
 This article provides a brief introduction of the books Allama Nabhani relied upon for compiling Jawahir-ul-Bihar. Additionally, it offers an overview of Nabhani's referencing style when using these sources.
