Abstract

ABSTRACT Previous studies have shown that conditioned medium of bone marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) improved in vitro maturation (IVM) of mouse oocytes. However, the effects of BMSC-conditioned medium (BMCM) on IVM and subsequent embryonic development of buffalo oocytes remain unclear. In this study, we examined the impacts of BMCM on maturation efficiency and embryonic development of buffalo oocytes after parthenogenetic activation. The results showed that BMCM that was collected on day 3 and added to IVM medium at a 10% addition concentration enhanced IVM and subsequent parthenogenetic development of buffalo oocytes. The present study serves a basis of obtaining high quality recipient oocytes for buffalo somatic cell nuclear transfer.
