Abstract

Water poverty is becoming a serious problem for the low-income people in Pakistan. Currently, many government and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in Pakistan are working to reduce water poverty as suggested and elaborated in Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 6. These organizations are working in collaboration with international donors and provincial and federal governments in Pakistan. The practitioners working to end water poverty are facing many institutional and financial problems to accomplish their work. This Practitioner Study explores these problems by interviewing 47 stakeholders from across the government, donors, and NGOs using a small questionnaire and focus group discussions. Thus, this study offers practitioners perspective on how their problems can possibly be solved. The study is likely to contribute to inform the strategies and actions of government and non-government organizations to advance their work to reduce water poverty and contribute to the achievement of SDGs.
