Abstract

This brief paper is an assessment of Punjab Water Act (PWA) 2019 in terms of problems likely to be faced during its implementation. It has identified few critical problems with the design of this legislation. It also provides important ideas about making PWA 2019 an effective piece of legislation considering its objective and intent. This assessment reveals that the PWA 2019 is an ambiguous law on an account of water regulation and is silent on implementation mechanisms. Responding to these deficiencies, this brief paper provides ways to deal with these deficiencies.
