Abstract

The story of humankind�s journey, from being a defenseless species 2.5 million years ago struggling to survive in a hostile eco-system, to becoming the most powerful species on the planet, capable of developing artificial intelligence, travelling to outer space and annihilating the whole planet, has long been a subject of fascination and debate. The realization of having come so far sparks a lot of interest in where we started. How did the early Homos survive and ascend to the top of the food chain? How did we start the agricultural revolution and learn to control our environment? How and why did we create cities and kingdoms? Why do we believe in gods, nations and human rights? And where are we headed next? These are all profound existential questions, which we yearn to answer and clues for which are sprinkled across the timeline of humankind�s history.
