This study aims to analyze thegemination system in Tanoli Hindkospoken in Mansehra, Hazara. Thecorpus of 5000 root words wasdeveloped first from the existingdictionaries and then this wordlist wasrecorded from the native speakers. The data was analysed in light of theOnset Rhyme Theory (ORT). Thefindings showed that the dialectallowed gemination word-mediallyand finally. Most of the consonantsare good candidates for geminationprocess; however, a few consonantslike the glide /j/ and the fricative /ɦ/do not allow gemination at anyposition of a word. Gemination inTanoli Hindko always occurs with theshort vowels, not with long vowels;however, if consonant cluster at wordfinal coda is found, or an ill-formedconsonant cluster is established in theword-medial position, the process ofgemination does not occur in TanoliHindko.
