Abstract

Iron-nickel (Fe-Ni) bimetallic nanoparticles have gained significant attention due to their unique catalytic and adsorption properties. In this study, Fe-Ni bimetallic nanoparticles were synthesized and adsorbed onto cross-linked chitosan to create a novel nanocomposite for the removal of dye from aqueous solutions. The nanocomposite was characterized using XRD, SEM, FTIR analysis. The adsorption efficiency of the nanocomposite was evaluated for the removal of reactive red 195 (RR) dye under varying conditions of pH, contact time, and initial dye concentration. These cross-linked chitosan iron/nickel bimetallic nanoparticles showed high photocatalytic pastime underneath visible light irradiation at pH five. Finally, it becomes concluded that the cross-linked chitosan iron / nickel bimetallic nanoparticles proved to be one of the quality nanomaterials for the degradation of the aforementioned dye. This study highlights the potential of Fe-Ni/cross-linked chitosan nanocomposites as an efficient and eco-friendly adsorbent for dye removal from wastewater.
